When our granddaughter, Amelia, got a 'big girl' bed, I had fun making a strip quilt with appliqued flower/garden theme pieces.  Making my own patterns for the butterfly, dragonfly and flowers allowed for much creativity and resulted in a very unique quilt.  I machine quilted a leaf pattern on the background.  Each flower and appliqued piece was machine stitched/quilted in one process.
We presented it to her November 2006 when we went to Portland for a visit.
Gabriel George Greenfield Arms was our second grandson.  He was born January 26, 2008.
Of course when Gabriel gets his quilt, Amelia will need a quilt for her dolls.  Below is her doll quilt.
To quilt the name, date and multiple "G" quilting pattern, I used the Porky font, enlarged it to 200 and made it in the outline format.  After printing it onto paper I pinned the paper to the quilt and just did freehand machine quilting along the print lines.  Afterward, tearing off the paper and trimming around the name and date.
As Gabriel grew out of his crib and toddler beds, he needed a twin size quilt so I made the one below.
After a year or so, he needed a 'summer quilt' (no batting) and I was happy to oblige :).
Jennifer Sampou's pattern, "Octagon Shimmer" was one I wanted to make, so when Amelia had her room repainted and needed a quilt to match, I made this quilt.
